Half the battle in life is having the motivation to set goals and to see things through. We try to instil the values of energy, goal-setting, team spirit and determination in all Eaton House pupils, but the Prep boys had an amazing extra boost from motivational speaker Jillian Haslam in an insightful and encouraging assembly on being the best person you can be.
Jillian survived a background of poverty and malnutrition in India and the death of four siblings to become a leading entrepreneur, writing an international bestseller called ‘Indian. English: A Memoir.’
She has spoken at TED Stormont, Bank of England, Bank of America, Barclays, J.P Morgan, Santander, University of Cambridge, and many others. Her main focus is on the decisions we make at work and in our personal lives, at critical and challenging times. She described how clear and concrete goals enable us to make clear and rational decisions that will benefit us for life. The boys listened with keen ears and took away positive thoughts on how they can improve their own lives.
On her website at jillianhaslam.com a free e-book is available, ‘The Irrepressible Mind – 7 steps to success through the minefields of life’ – designed to help you develop the mental strength to overcome life’s challenges.
