Eaton House Belgravia reaffirms its commitment to cutting edge learning practices as it unveils its new ‘Innovation Centre’

Eaton House Belgravia School may have opened in 1897 and be a traditional Westminster and St Paul’s feeder, but it also has fresh and modern ideas designed to give its pupils the ‘Eaton House edge.’ After the October half-term, the school will open an innovative learning facility, a state-of-the-art audio-visual centre with studio and podcasting facilities and a new library.

The innovative learning space aims to foster ingenious and entrepreneurial opportunities for the boys. Headmaster Ross Montague says it is designed to ‘ensure that learning becomes meaningful and purposeful, offering regular opportunities for the pupils to apply their mathematics and English skills in group, project-based and problem-solving enquiries.’

In a modern world, where social media skills are increasingly important, the audio-visual classroom will, he says, ‘support the children’s public speaking, presenting and computing skills in an exciting and different environment.’ The school has also renovated the Nursery classrooms to enhance its new ‘School from 2+’, offering responsible compound learning for our youngest pupils.

These spaces will be a source of inspiration, fostering lifelong learning. This is just another way in which Eaton House Belgravia distinguishes itself as an educational ‘superhighway’, leading to success in the 7+ and 8+ exams.

Support for ‘gifted and talented pupils’ and for all pupils achieving high attainment will also be extended in the autumn. Following a successful trial with Year 1 pupils in June, the school is introducing extra targeted support sessions coordinated by the school’s Head of Learning Enrichment. These invitation-only morning sessions start 30 minutes before the formal school day begins. Mr Montague’s philosophy is that happiness and executive function are key to attainment and that incremental improvements in pupil progress can have a significant impact when it is time for the boys to sit entrance examinations. ‘This initiative allows the school more capacity to provide a granular, bespoke and targeted approach to maximising early potential,’ says Mr Montague.

A revised timetable with extra time allocated for sports, outdoor learning and lunch provides a balance to these educational initiatives, underpinning Eaton House Belgravia’s commitment to well-being as the foundation of academic progress.

In addition to these exciting developments, Eaton House Belgravia will also be presenting a fresh new look with significant restorations to the façade and roof. The school hall has been made brighter and more spacious for assemblies, sports and parent workshops. Pupils and parents will also return to a new entrance hall, designed to the highest specification, to provide a warm and inviting welcome into the prestigious school. Taken together, these numerous enhancements, initiatives and site developments will ensure that the Eaton House Belgravia educational experience is balanced, broad and unrivalled.
