Buggies and Pushchairs
I would just like to take this opportunity to remind you that it has always been school policy for buggies and pushchairs not to be brought in to the main body of the Pre-Prep building. As I am sure you can appreciate our aim is to keep the flow around the building as free as possible.

If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the Pre-Prep team. With very best wishes to you all for the term ahead!

Headmaster’s Newsletter Spring Term 2016

7th January 2016

Dear Pre-Prep Parents,

Happy New Year and I hope you all have had a fabulous Christmas holiday.

Welcome back to another busy term in the Pre-Prep. We begin this term with Parents’ Evenings on Monday and Tuesday, 11th and 12th of January. The meetings enable your son’s teacher to detail the targets they have set. It is also an opportunity to update you on your son’s progress to date. On Tuesday 12th January there is an event in the Theatre for Girls’ School parents so I would kindly ask you to use the side entrance, through the cloakroom to enter the Pre-Prep on this evening.

The Staff will have written to you with key dates and about the curriculum being taught this term, but I would like to draw your attention to some other events detailed in this term’s card calendar which you should have also received. There are additional copies available from the notice board as you enter the Pre-Prep.

Clubs, apart from Hapkido begin on Wednesday 13th of January due to the Parents’ Evenings. There is also no Year 3 Homework Club on the evenings of the 11th and 12th of January due to the Parents’ Evenings.

Thursday 3rd of March is World Book Day. On this day we will celebrate the wonder of books and the boys are asked to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.

All clubs end on Friday 18th of March.

Our term ends with the wonderful Spring Fair on Wednesday 23rd of March from 3.30pm to 5.00pm. This is our major fundraiser for our two charities ASSERT – Angleman Syndrome Support Education and Research Trust (please see http://www.angelmanuk.org/ for more details) and South London Cares (please see https://southlondoncares.org.uk/ for more details)

I would just like to take this opportunity to remind you that it has always been school policy for buggies and pushchairs not to be brought in to the main body of the Pre-Prep building. As I am sure you can appreciate our aim is to keep the flow around the building as free as possible. Could I ask you once again to request permission from me to use the Pre-Prep Library from 3.30pm, as unfortunately resources have been damaged once again. If you do use the Library I am sure you will appreciate that food isn’t allowed to be eaten in this space.

Thank you all for your on-going support. Working together enables us to maximise the opportunities for your son and to create learning opportunities that are meaningful, exciting and personalised.

With all best wishes for the term ahead,

With best wishes

It was so good to meet you all and welcome the boys to school today. The school is once more alive!

The Year 1, 2 and 3 boys have had their first play time on The Common and the joy on their faces was plain to see. It was also the same for the KG boys who were playing in their new playground. Welcome Letter

11th July 2013

Dear Parents,

It has been a very exciting end to the summer term, with lots of very memorable events for the boys. Each year standards seem to get higher and we have had the best music concert, sports day and Year 3 play ever. The boys never cease to amaze me with their enthusiasm for everything that we offer in the Pre-Prep. You will be able to read about the boys’ achievements, in more detail, in The Column magazine, which you will get at the start of the autumn term.

The end of an academic year is always an emotional time, with many boys moving on to their new schools. Some members of staff are also leaving, including me and it is has been wonderful reflecting on the fabulous experiences which we have shared with the boys. There are new challenges ahead for all of us but we will always remember the warm and friendly atmosphere in the Pre-Prep – it is a very special place!

I will miss the boys so much and they have made my last few days as Headmistress of the Pre-Prep memorable and emotional. There is nothing quite so moving as a little boy saying ‘I love you!’

All the very best wishes for the future, to you and your families,

Welcome Letter

6th September 2012

Dear Parents,

I hope that you all had a fabulous summer. The staff have been working very hard preparing for the new term ahead and it is wonderful to see the boys back in school full of enthusiasm and with big smiles on their faces.

A particular welcome must go to our very new boys who are joining the school and especially to those who have joined us in Kindergarten and are at the very beginning of their school careers. I am sure that they will soon feel part of the Pre-Prep family and we will do everything we can to ensure that they are very happy here.

Staffing
We also have some staff returning to the Pre-Prep. Mrs Helen Moore returns from maternity leave and she will resume her role as Director of Studies, along with being 2A’s form teacher. Mrs Anouska George returned from maternity leave during the spring term and will now be form teacher in 2C, as well as the Year Co-ordinator for Year 2 and Head of French. Mrs Jude Hawes, who worked part-time in the Pre-Prep, last year, will be the new KG2 form teacher.

Mr James Nickalls joins us as an additional Assistant Teacher and he will be supporting classes in Year 1 and 2. Miss Emily Cama has joined us from the nursery and will be the Assistant Teacher in KG3.

My new PA is Mrs Francesca Morgan and if you wish to contact her by email, please note her address:fmorgan@eatonhouseschools.com

Information Evenings
We shall be holding information evenings in the first two weeks of term on the following days:

10th September Year 1 Information Evening 6.00pm
11th September KG Information & Social Evening 6.00pm
13th September Year 3 Information Evening 6.00pm
17th September Year 2 Information Evening 6.00pm
Transition to Prep Talk Mr Edwards 6.30pm

These evenings will start with an introduction from me in the Theatre and you will then be able to go to your son’s classroom to find out more about the curriculum for the year and the classroom routine. It will also be a good opportunity for you to get to know your son’s class teacher better.

The Kindergarten Information Evening will be followed by a social evening when you can be introduced to the other parents in your year group.

Important Dates
You will see from the Autumn Term Calendar that we have a stimulating and busy few weeks ahead of us. Please do check the dates carefully – particularly important ones to note are:

10th September Clubs and individual music lessons begin
27th September House board work in (for House competition)
5th October Jeans for Genes (jeans may be worn for a donation to charity)
Saturday, 13th October Open Day (some boys needed for music and games demonstrations)
22nd – 26th October Half-Term
31st October Second Hand Uniform Sale
14th November Individual and Sibling Photographs
23rd November Long Weekend (no school)
28th & 29th November Parents’ Evenings
29th November Kindergarten Nativity 11.00 am (KG boys may go home afterwards)
10th December Christmas Carol Service at Holy Trinity 2.00 pm
13th December End of Term 12.00 noon

You will also find a copy of the calendar and other useful information, such as this term’s lunch menus, on the school website www.eatonhouseschools.com.

Early Morning
We do offer early morning care from 8.00 – 8.30 am. The boys are supervised by Mrs Navjot Gill or Mrs Emma Tillson, who are fully qualified nursery assistants from our very own Nursery. Each session costs £1.20 and this is charged to parents retrospectively, each half term, although occasional users can pay for single sessions on the day.

The main doors to the school open at 8.30 am and boys should not enter the school until this time, unless they have a coaching lesson, as this is vital time for staff meetings and lesson preparation. If your son is invited to attend reading comprehension or handwriting with Miss Rebecca, the boys do not need to come into school early as these sessions do not start until 8.35 am.

House Photographs
These will be taken next Thursday, so I hope the boys will look particularly smart for these.

Uniform and Equipment
Please check that every item of uniform and equipment that your son brings to school is named. As you can imagine, the boys quite often mislay things but if they are clearly labelled then we can get everything back to the right place.

With very best wishes to you all for the new academic year and the term ahead!

Yours sincerely,

Mrs P T M Cawthorne

Parents’ Evenings
We are going to trial holding our Parents’ Evening on two consecutive evenings, this term.  Appointments will start at 4.00 pm for all form teachers, apart from those running clubs, as they will be running as normal for both afternoons.  Appointment slots will be increased from ten to fifteen minutes, so that there will be more time to discuss your son’s progress and welfare with the last appointment at 6.45 pm.  There will be a crèche facility for boys and siblings from 4.00 – 6.00 pm in the Creative Playroom.  Miss Rebecca will be available to talk to parents until 6.00 pm, on both evenings.

Summer Uniform
Boys may wear white, short sleeved shirts and green ankle socks, to school this term (except on 21st June when we have class photos).  They should also have their sun caps at school to wear for Games and for play on hot days, so please make sure that it is clearly named.

Sun Screen
Please would you apply sun screen to your son, on very sunny days, before he comes to school.  We will apply a top up on Games afternoons.  Please inform your son’s form teacher if your son is allergic to sun screen or you wish to provide your own.

Should you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to get in touch.

With best wishes,

Mrs P T M Cawthorne
The Headmistress

Welcome Letter

12th January 2012

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas holiday and that the boys have had a chance to re-charge their batteries ready for the term ahead. As usual we have much planned for the forthcoming term.

Staff
Miss Naomie, who is teaching French in the Pre-Prep while Miss Anouska has been on maternity leave, will be leaving us at half-term, as Miss Anouska is returning to work. We thank Miss Naomie for all the hard work and dedication she has displayed in the short time she has been with us. Apart from teaching stimulating French lessons, she has been a great asset to the school and has even got to grips with re-organising books in the library.

Welcome Letter

8th September 2011

Dear Parents,

First of all may I welcome everyone to the start of what promises to be an exciting new academic year. The teachers have been working very hard preparing everything for the term ahead and it has been lovely to see the boys so full of energy and enthusiasm as they enter their new classrooms. I am sure that the boys will quickly settle into their new routines.

A special welcome must go to our very new boys who have joined us in Kindergarten and in Years Two and Three. I am sure that they will soon feel part of the Pre-Prep family and we will do everything we can to ensure that they are very happy here.

Staff
have also welcomed some new staff to the Pre-Prep. New Class Teachers are Miss Emily Day in 1A, Miss Lauren Smith in 2A and Mr Simon Cassell in 3C. Mr Cassell is also the Year Co-ordinator for Year Three. Miss Naomie Lemay will be teaching the boys French.

The new Assistant Teachers are Miss India in KG1, Miss Lucy in KG3, Miss Lorraine in 1A, Miss Hayley in 1B and Miss Kerry and Miss Philippa in 1C. Miss Raquel remains with KG2. Classes in Years Two and Three will continue to be assisted by our subject specialists, when they are not teaching their own subjects.

Information Evenings
Next week you are invited to attend an Information Evening with your son’s class teacher. It will be a good opportunity for you to get to know the teachers better and to find out about the curriculum for the year and classroom routines.

The Kindergarten Information Evening will be held on Monday, 12th September at 6.00pm and we hope that you will be able to stay for a social evening afterwards when you can get to know the other parents in your year group.

Information Evenings for parents of boys in Years One, Two and Three will be held on Tuesday, 13th September from 6.00 – 6.45pm. There will be a talk about entry into Eaton House The Manor Prep School with Mrs Cawthorne and Mr Edwards, in the theatre, for parents of boys in Year Two at 6.45 pm.

Important Dates
You will see from the Autumn Term Calendar that we have a stimulating and busy few weeks ahead of us. Please do check the dates carefully – particularly important ones to note are:

12th September – Kindergarten Information Evening and Social
13th September – Information Evening for Years One, Two and Three
16th September – Second Hand Uniform Sale
7th October – Jeans for Genes (jeans may be worn for a donation to charity)
15th October – Open Day (some boys needed for music and games demonstrations)
24th – 28th October – Half-Term
18th November – Long Leave Day (no school)
24th November – Parents’ Evening
1st December – Kindergarten Nativity 11.00 am (KG boys may go home afterwards)
13th December – Christmas Carol Service at Holy Trinity 2.00 pm
15th December – End of Term 12.00 noon

You will also find a copy of the calendar and other useful information, such as this term’s lunch menus, on the school website.

Trips and Workshops
Payment for trips and workshops will now be added to the school fees bill, in arrears.

Early Morning
We do offer early morning care from 8.00 – 8.30 am. The boys are supervised by Mrs Narjot Gill or Mrs Emma Tillson, who are fully qualified nursery assistants from our very own Nursery. Each session costs £1 and is charged to parents retrospectively, each half term.

The main doors to the school open at 8.30 am and boys should not enter their classrooms until this time, unless they have a coaching lesson, as this is vital time for staff meetings and lesson preparation. If your son is invited to attend SRA or handwriting with Miss Rebecca, the boys do not need to come into school early as these sessions do not start until 8.35 am.

The Headmistress
