Welcome Letter from the Headmistress Summer term 2017

21st April 2017

Dear Parents,

A very warm welcome to Cubs and Bears in our brand new nursery! We hope you have had a wonderful Easter and are looking forward to the fun term ahead.
Our topic for this half term will be ‘Cubs and Bears’. After half term, our topic will be ‘Down by the sea’.

Here are some important reminders for this coming term:

• The nursery doors will now open at 8.40am and pick up time is 11.50am.

• If your child is not attending school for any reason, please call before 9am or email your class teacher to let us know.

• Please make a note in the registration book if there is a change to pick up time or if your child is going home with somebody other than a parent or nanny.

• Please label all children’s clothes and bring in a spare set of clothes (including socks) in case of any small accidents.

• We have a trip booked on Thursday 18th May to Bocketts Farm. More information will follow.

• Our gym day will be on a Tuesday. Please can your child come in wearing trainers or plimsolls.

• Our Music and Movement lesson will be on Wednesday. Tap dancing, Spanish and cooking will all be on Friday morning.

• Please provide us with a photograph of your child for our birthday board.

• Whilst we do follow guidelines and baseline assessments with each individual child, we strongly recommend that you carry out regular check-ups for your child’s hearing and eyesight and please inform your teacher.

• To help with your child’s learning and assessment we provide ‘wow’ observation sheets. These enable us to record any special achievements both inside and outside the classroom. We will complete these throughout the term. Please ask if you would like to tell us of a special achievement.

• We would love to have parents and carers to read to us at the end of the morning! Do speak to us if you would like to come in.

We are looking forward to a happy and busy Summer Term!

Many thanks,

Miss Roosha and Miss Emma

Welcome letter from the Headmistress Autumn Term 2016

8th September 2016

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to you all and I hope you had a wonderful summer. I would like to extend a warm welcome to the new Yellow Room children and their families to the nursery. We hope your little ones settle easily and start to love their time at nursery.

Communication

We have an open door policy where you are very welcome to speak to the class teacher and assistants for a few minutes each day but please arrange a different time for something that might take longer to discuss. We will email all correspondence and in addition to this, I will send all initial letters and the Nursery calendar home on paper. Do please let us know if your email address has changed. You will also find a white board near the entrance to each classroom telling you about the weekly Show and Tell theme and other information.

Volunteers

We appreciate any volunteers who would like to come and read to the children, help out with swimming or out on school visits. The children love to share their time at Nursery with Mummy and Daddy or any other special person.

WOW observation

As part of the Early Years curriculum we make many observations on the children, however it is very important that we also know about any significant achievements outside of Nursery. This can be anything from recognising a number in the street, to riding a bike or staying in their bed all night. We have a WOW observation form for you to complete and return back to your class teacher. This can be done at any time during the term.

Dates for your diary

Parents’ Evening will be held on Wednesday 23rd November when you can discuss your child’s progress. Details will be given nearer the time. We also have a Long Weekend this term, Friday 18th November.

Lastly, we would really appreciate it if you could you bring in old newspapers, plastic bags and recycling for junk modelling.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to come and see me.

Kind regards

Miss Roosha

Here are just a few reminders for the term ahead:

Parents’ Evening

Nursery Summer Party

This year instead of having a fete, I have decided to hold a party for all the nursery children. It will be held on Wednesday 6th July in the school theatre, we will have an outside entertainer who will provide music, games, balloon making and tattoos.

Sports Day

The nursery Sports Day will take place on Clapham Common Tuesday 12th July at 2.30pm. The children will be starting to get ready for their races very soon!

Barnardo’s Big Toddle

Please come and join us for a toddle around the common in aid of Barnardo’s, the toddle will be on 15th June. As usual a Teddy Bears picnic will follow, with some yummy lollies too!

Over the Easter holiday the new nursery and kitchen block has really moved forward, with the steels showing the fantastic space we are going to have. Do have a look on our twitter account for regular updates or take a peek from the sky playground!

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for the busy term ahead. I am looking forward to all our new little ones settling in and starting to enjoy the Nursery School.

I would like to welcome Mr Sam Wheeler from the Pre-Prep, who will be taking Nursery gym lessons on Tuesday mornings.

Please check the list outside your classroom to make sure we have your details correctly and let us know immediately of any additions/changes. After the initial flurry of paper, I would like to remind you that all letters will be sent by email, with a copy up outside the classrooms.

If your child is absent for any reason, please call the school office before 9.00am to let us know the reason. There is also a register book near the classroom door, for you to let us know if someone other than yourself is collecting your child.

You might like to put the following dates in your diary: our Parents’ Evening will be held on Wednesday 27th November and the Nativity will be on Tuesday 3rd December. Details for these will follow but please see the Nursery Calendar, enclosed, for the full terms dates.

As always we actively encourage parents, grandparents and other relatives to come to the Nursery and read or help out. This is a very special time for the children to share their everyday nursery experience with you. If you would like to join in, please let your teacher know and she can agree a mutually convenient time. In addition I will need to complete a risk assessment form so please come to see me so I can complete it.

Summer 2010 Menu Information

15th April 2010

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the latest edition of the catering information letters once again. It’s Summer again and before we know it will be sports days and end of year events.

We continue to use pollack for the battered fillets and have sourced a product made from a whole piece of fish and not minced. We are introducing a baked salmon fillet in order to comply with the government legislation requiring us to provide ‘oily’ fish once every 3 weeks. The suppliers of these choices are certified by the Marine Stewardship Council who ensure that they come from well maintained and sustainable stocks. The quality and flavour of meat is extremely similar to cod.

Roast dinners are on the menus once a week and are very popular with pupils and staff alike. All roasts are served with a vegetarian gravy which is also suitable for most allergy sufferers and can be eaten by all at the school at present.

We have a freshly made tortilla wrap back on the menu filled with plenty of wholesome vegetables such as red peppers and tomatoes in the filling which are good providers of vitamin A and the chicken is breast meat only.

Filled baguettes are back and always prove popular with the pupils as they can have as many fillings as they like in an organic baguette.

We will also have our mini sausage pasta with our homemade pesto (nut free) and this has proved a popular choice in the past.

There are more fruit based pudding choices now that we are in the summer term.

We are now using a wholesale butcher (Heanens) based in Roehampton. They Achieved a 5 star hygiene rating from Wandsworth council who were so impressed with the quality offered that they now supply all of Wandsworth councils schools with their meats. This means that we get Fresh meats Cut Either the same day or the during the night and delivered fresh the day we want to use it. We use only fresh chickens still and are now getting a handmade unfrozen 4oz burger that is 100% beef and delivered fresh the day before use. Our roast joints are also now all fresh too.

We are now using wheat pasta and sauces that are enriched with vitamins to provide the full amounts of vitamins required by the new legislation. Wheat pasta is used so that celiac sufferers can eat it too.

A printout of exactly what levels of nutrients our menus provide and how we comply with the new legislation should also be available to see on the website and if anyone would like to know more on how this works please contact me.

Sports days will repeat last years format and not give out individual picnic bags where a lot of the items were wasted. Instead we will be allowing pupils to help themselves from a selection of fruits (bananas, melon & satsumas). These quench their thirst and give vital vitamins and potassium. There will also be pastries (muffins, flapjacks & mini doughnuts). These provide carbohydrates and sugar to replace lost energy. We will also have a selection of sandwiches and some savoury pies as well just to fill them up. Each pupil will be provided with their own bottle of water and each class will also have a large bottle of water as back up. These bottles can be filled at any time from the kitchen area of the pavilion. We will also be providing cold drinks for the adults but not any hot beverages unfortunately. There are vending facilities should you wish.

As always we are committed to providing a wholesome and healthy lunch within the new government legislation while at the same time trying to find new and better ingredients and products.

I hope that this is helpful in showing you how we put the menus together and the direction that we are trying to move towards. If any parents have any questions about the menus or food in general please feel free to contact me through the Manor office or if you are passing the kitchen and I am in just drop in and see me. Should you wish to have a specific meeting I will be only too happy to arrange this.

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to you all and an especially warm welcome to the new children and parents who are starting this term. I hope everyone had a relaxing summer and you are prepared for the busy term ahead!

Miss Roosha had a baby girl on 17th August. She is called Phoebe. Mummy and baby are doing very well. We hope she will come and visit us sometime soon.

I would like to bring your attention to two dates this term. Parents Evening will be held on Thursday 26th November and our Christmas Nativities will be on Wednesday 2nd December.

The nursery doors open at 8.40am. The morning session finishes at 12.00 and children who stay for the afternoon can be collected at 3.30pm. If anyone other than you is collecting your child, please write a letter informing the teacher.

If your child is ill, please can you ring the school office before 9.00am. This is very helpful if other children in the same class become ill with the same symptoms.
