Eaton House The Manor Nursery Welcome Letter

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Dear Parents,

Welcome back, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and here is to a happy and healthy 2012.

Miss Georgina has returned from her travels and is looking forward to getting to know her new class.

Miss Laura has a training placement until half term so Miss Emily will be with Miss Victoria in the Blue Room.

The children love inviting their mummies, daddies and other family members to read or help with cooking. Please feel free to continue to volunteer for these as it is such a special and important event for the children. Could you please come and see me beforehand as I am required to fill in a Volunteer Risk Assessment form, thank you for your help in this matter.

I have finally received the Pixy Treasure delivery. I am very sorry for the delay.

I would like to bring your attention to the date of our Parents Evening this term, which will be held on Thursday 15th March.

We will also be holding our very first Valentine Cake sale on Friday 10th February, we would greatly appreciate any cakes or biscuits for this occasion. If anyone would like to help, please let me know.

The nursery doors open at 8.40am. The morning session finishes at 12.00, the doors will be open at 11.50 to ease congestion. Children who stay for the afternoon can be collected at 3.30pm. If anyone other than you is collecting your child, or you drop off late or collect your child early please sign the registration book hanging on the classroom door. Please continue to sign in the daily sheets located by the entrance to your classroom.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to come and see me. I am based in the Green Room.

Kind regards,

Miss Roosha
Head of Nursery

Eaton House The manor Pre-Preparatory Welcome Letter

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas holiday and that the boys have had a chance to re-charge their batteries ready for the term ahead. As usual we have much planned for the forthcoming term.

Staff
Miss Naomie, who is teaching French in the Pre-Prep while Miss Anouska has been on maternity leave, will be leaving us at half-term, as Miss Anouska is returning to work. We thank Miss Naomie for all the hard work and dedication she has displayed in the short time she has been with us. Apart from teaching stimulating French lessons, she has been a great asset to the school and has even got to grips with re-organising books in the library.

We welcome Nic Marot as our new GAP assistant. He is from Australia and will be working in the Pre-Prep for a whole year, which is wonderful.

Important Dates
You will see from the Spring Term Calendar that we have a stimulating and busy few weeks ahead of us. Please do check the dates carefully – particularly important ones to note are:

25th January – 8+ Examinations
27th January – Scholarship interviews and practicals
3rd February – Second Hand Uniform Sale at 8.30 am
13th – 17th February – half-term
27th February – Book week begins
29th February – Costume Day – boys to come to school dressed as a character from a book
15th March – Spring Fair
29th March – End of Term

You will also find a copy of the calendar and other useful information, such as this term’s lunch menus, on the website.

Advance Warning
This year Sports Day will be held on Wednesday, 4th July starting at 10.00 am, at the Battersea Millenium Stadium. Please note that there will be no afternoon school on this day.

If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With very best wishes to you all for the New Year and the term ahead!

Yours sincerely,

Mrs P T M Cawthorne
The Headmistress

Eaton House The Manor Girls' Welcome Letter

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the Spring Term. I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with your families.

Harrison’s Christmas Disco
Amongst the many Christmassy end of term activities the Girls’ School hosted its very first disco, and what a fun night was had by all. I am pleased to say that together with money from the Carol Service collection, we were able to send a cheque for £900 to Harrison’s Fund. Donations were also made to The Children’s Society and St Barnabas Church and a further £200.50 was raised for Harrison’s Fund through the purchase of Christmas Cards designed by the girls.

New Faces
We are delighted to welcome Laura Kaddaj into F2 this term. Laura joins us from Newton Prep and her brothers currently attend EMTM Prep.
We are also looking forward to meeting our new Gap Assistant, Shaugnah Ambrose, who will be joining us shortly.

Form Reps
The Form Rep System has been running for a year now and I would like to say a huge thank you to our very first reps for all their hard work – the Summer Drinks Party, Quiz Night and Disco were all a great success! For anyone interested in being a Form Rep for this calendar year please call or email me before Friday 20th January to register your interest and find out what is involved.

Term Dates
It may be a short term, but it is certainly a busy one! Please do peruse the Term dates carefully and if you have any queries please don’t hesitate to ask. Some key dates for your diary:
Whole School Inter House Cross Country: 10/2/12 at 2.00pm
The Senior Play – Alice in Wonderland: 16/3/12 at 6.00pm
Music Concert 27/3/12 at 9.15am

Senior Schools
I have begun the process of visiting Senior Schools in order to be able to offer advice to you regarding future schools and also to establish good relationships with the schools and heads. Please be aware that whilst the day schools do not tend to require early registration many of the boarding schools prefer it and it can be advantageous in terms of entry.

To date I have visited Cheltenham Ladies College, St. Mary’s Ascot, Heathfield, Alleyns, Francis Holland, More House, Queen Anne’s Caversham, Priorsfield and Putney Park. For your information I will be visiting the following schools this term:

16/1/12 – Wycombe Abbey
20/1/12 – Putney High School
24/1/12 – Downe House
27/1/12 – Wimbledon High School
3/2/12 – St. Mary’s Calne
7/2/12 – JAGS
9/2/12 – Benenden
13/3/12 – Roedean

Swimming
I am pleased to confirm that we will no longer be using the Latchmere Leisure Centre for our swimming lessons. The girls will now be taught at Clapham Leisure Centre’s new pool which has just opened. As well as being a little closer to the school allowing us to cut down on travel time, the pool is new, clean and has an adjustable floor for our younger girls. The Kindergartens will use the learner pool and all other year groups will use the main pool.

Lunch
We will continue to offer pasta as an alternative choice at lunchtime this term and new menus will be in place shortly. Parents of girls in KG, 1A and 1B should use the tick sheets outside classrooms to indicate which meal they would like their daughter to have. Girls in Forms 2 and above are expected to make their own choice, having discussed the menu at home with their parents first. We will encourage girls to have the main course where possible and to have vegetables/salad with their pasta.

Uniform
May I take this opportunity to remind you that all outerwear should be as listed on the school uniform list. Girls may wear a green duffle coat, bottle green gloves and the striped school scarf. All hair accessories should be red, green or tortoiseshell.

I look forward to another fun-filled and productive term. Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to pop in for a chat or call me. Alternatively you may email me at ssegrave@eatonhouseschools.com

With best wishes

Eaton House The Vale Welcome Letter

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

Dear Parents

Happy New Year – and welcome to the new pupils in the Nursery!

Please bear in mind that clubs will begin next week, starting Monday 16th January. Unfortunately we are unable to run the Healthy Kids Club this term. Please check the club lists that are up in the front hallway and make a note of the finishing times. Invoices will be sent in the first week.

I always like to take this opportunity to refresh memories on a few points: term dates, absences and times of arrival in particular!

As always, the term dates are easily accessible on the website, but: half term is the week of 13th February, with Friday 10th February being a normal school day finishing at 3.30. Term ends on Thursday 29th March at 12 noon. May I make my usual request here of asking you to please book your holiday flights so that your children have a full term of school. If, for any entirely unavoidable reason, you have to take your child abroad during term time, I need a written request for the time off please.

As far as absences are concerned, if your child is unwell and unable to come to school, please email me or leave a voicemail to let us know as early as possible on the day; this allows us to fill in the registers accordingly.

I open the door each morning between 8.30 and 8.45 am. Please aim to get your child here during that time; after 8.45 children are officially marked as ‘late’ in the registers. After 8.45, if I do not answer the buzzer it is because I am in Assembly or elsewhere in the school; please go down the stairs on the left of the front door and ring the basement doorbell. I would also appreciate it if you could be as prompt as possible when collecting your child(ren)!

I hope you all had wonderful holidays and that you are looking forward to the new term as much as we are!

With best wishes

Mr R. Greenwood
Headmaster
